The 1975 export ban was lifted in 2015. Since then, exports have grown to — mb/d — almost all of it light, sweet U.S. shale that domestic Gulf refineries (built for heavy sour) don't want. The crude leaves through Gulf Coast terminals — Corpus Christi and Houston dominate — and lands mainly in Asia and Europe.
